"Is compassionate leave the same as family responsibility leave?"

My employee requested two days’ family responsibility leave to travel to his uncle’s funeral. I know family responsibility leave is for immediate family only so I don’t have to pay him for this day, but he’s asked me to pay him compassionate leave. Does this fall under family responsibility leave?

You must decide whether to treat it as an unpaid day off or an annual leave day, there’s nothing in law called compassionate leave although funeral leave falls under family responsibility leave but is usually only for the death of immediate family members (unless you choose to extend this to other family members).
